Williamson’s Sapsuckers

Sphyrapicus thyroideus

Williamson’s Sapsuckers are medium sized woodpeckers with white rumps and yellow bellies. The females are dull brown and the male has black plumage with a white eye stripe and red neck.

A month ago I photographed a pair of Williamson's Sapsuckers excavating a nesting cavity in Idaho and this past week I spent several days photographing them again.
