My father joined the Army at 17 years of age and was a Korean War Veteran who earned five Bronze Stars for the battles that he fought starting from the first day of the Korean War. Thank you for serving Dad.
My son spent ten years in the Army. Thank you for serving Son.
For my friends who were in the military, thank you all for serving your country.
For all those who served our country honorably, thank you for serving.
Mia
How proud you must be! I, too, am so very proud of family and friends who have served…and still so terribly saddened by the thought of it all…such a waste of life.
Beautiful photograph, Mia, and lovely tribute.
Beautiful.
My Uncle who was a Dad to me was in the army and served under Gen. Patton in Germany. He didn’t talk much about his service until his later years… but when he did it was if the war unfolded before my eyes. We lost so many friends I can’t count them. Utahbooklover said it right…”The cost can be high…” and there seems to be so little that can be done to truly says thank you.
Gorgeous photo of an eagle… it seems a fitting symbol of our Country.
Sorry to hear about your many losses. Yes, the high cost of freedom is measured in lives lost, as well as financial. So far, I have been lucky not to have lost any loved ones in battle. BTW, my uncle (Navy WWII) also became like my father when I moved in with his family in 1960 as a teen. I too love the photo and am impressed that Mia’s father earned 5 Bronze Stars!
Wonderful photo and tribute.
Thanks for your tribute to all vets and for sharing your family’s service too. I served 4-years in the Air Force, and have one son in the Marines and another in the Army. I too salute all vets on this day and am reminded again how precious is our freedom. The cost can be high and we may not always agree with the politics, but we all agree this is a wonderful country.
What a beautiful tribute to your family and veterans everywhere.
