Adult Red-tailed Hawk close up fly byAdult Red-tailed Hawk close up fly by – Nikon D300, f6.3, 1/1250, ISO 800, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 400mm, not baited

While I was in Montana I didn’t see as many Red-tailed Hawk juveniles as I expected but I did see and photograph quite a few adults. This adult Red-tailed flew by at close range which gave me a very nice view of the underside of its wing that shows it was also molting though it didn’t look as raggedy as some of the other adult Red-tailed Hawks looked.

I wish there had been a few puffy clouds in the sky when I photographed this Red-tailed but I guess a plain blue sky isn’t so bad.

My hosting provider has been having issues so my blog might have been slow to open or respond recently, it has been that way for me from the back end too. I’m sorry.

Life is good.
