Many of my regular readers probably know that I have been having a great time the past month photographing Rough-legged Hawks and Prairie Falcons so I selected an image of a Prairie Falcon to post for my Friday Photos today.

Prairie Falcon in early morning lightPrairie Falcon (Falco mexicanus)  in early morning light – Nikon D300, f6.3, 1/400, ISO 640, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 400mm, natural light, not baited

I was thrilled to spot this young Prairie Falcon last week while it perched on this boulder in early morning light. There is something about that sweet, golden light that is very appealing to me when I am able to photograph bird’s in the rays of the rising sun.

Life is good.
